Washington D.C. – On Monday, May 4th at the National Press Club, journalists, reporters, and media professionals were invited to News Reimagined: The Creator Journalism Summit hosted by the National Press Club Journalism Institute and URL Media. The event was designed for newsrooms, publishers, journalists, and creators to assist them in navigating and producing the next movement of media changes. The media landscape is changing and requires innovative skills such as leaning into untraditional alternatives, such as podcasts, content creators, and subscription-based news.

The event kicked off with a discussion by two career independent journalists, Bianca Graulau and Nick Valencia, and moderated by Leonor Ayala of URL Media. The discussion was led by the topics around objectivity in media, covering issues and navigating sponsorships, as well as dealing with payments. The Summit then proceeded to split into two separate sessions, one session dedicated to advising creators/journalists, and the other for publishers/outlets. These sessions served as a workshop to aid leading media professionals in navigating how to interact with content creators in their place of work.
The last breakout session consisted of eleven options, catering to a variety of media professionals from creators to publishers. These breakout sessions were formed into small groups and provided an opportunity to network and collaborate on how to advance in the media industry. Some breakout sessions included digging into contracts, leaning into vertical video, and converting audience into revenue. These were informative sessions led by career media experts with leading knowledge and insight.
Indonesian Lantern attended this summit and is a proud partner of URL Media. URL Media is a multi-platform network that seeks to create scale without sacrifice, connecting audiences to relevant news & information, and enabling more economic viability for media organizations serving Black and Brown communities.
