Garuda Indonesia beats out Asian competitors to be world’s ‘most-loved’ airline

— Based on a recent survey conducted by Skytrax, Indonesia’s national airline Garuda Indonesia was voted the world’s most-loved airline. The carrier recorded 85 percent customer satisfaction, the best among over 420 airlines around the globe. Garuda Indonesia president director M Arif Wibowo expressed his gratitude for the appreciation and support directed at the airline.

“The award has made us proud but it is also a challenge in itself for Garuda Indonesia to always provide its best for passengers,” he said in a written statement. As the cherry on the cake, Garuda is also one of the highest rated airlines on the TripAdvisor, which recently debuted its airline review function.

In general, Asia did exceptionally well in the survey, snagging nine spots in the top ten list; Greece’s Aegean Airlines was the only non-Asian airline that squeezed its way into the top ten at number four. South Korea in particular performed with flying colors, with Asiana Airlines, EVA Air, and Korean Air in the top five alone. Bangkok Airways, Singapore Airlines, AirAsia X, ANA All Nippon Airways and Royal Brunei Airlines also scored mentions.

Despite Qatar Airways performing well at the Skytrax World Airline Awards last month, it sits at number 12 here, just below Japan Airlines. Meanwhile, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Cathay Pacific were no-shows in the top 20.

Here’s the full list of the world’s most-loved airlines:
