Channelnewsasia.com — Cinema legend Chow Yun Fat, “Heavenly King” Aaron Kwok and Taiwanese heartthrob Eddie Peng will be in Singapore next month to promote their upcoming Hong Kong police blockbuster Cold War 2.
Fans can catch a glimpse of their favourite leading men on the evening of Jul 5 when the trio will be gracing the red carpet at Marina Bay Sands Skating Rink before attending the Singapore Gala Premiere of Cold War 2 at the Sands Theatre.
The original Cold War was the highest grossing Hong Kong film in 2012 and it went on to bring in worldwide box-office receipts of US$50 million. The action thriller, which saw police under siege and betrayed by a mole, also dominated the Hong Kong Film Awards, collecting nine prizes including best film, best director, best screenplay and the best actor gong for Tony Leung Ka Fai.
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this sequel, not only because the first film ended on a cliffhanger, but also because of the addition to the cast of superstar Chow, who joins returning cast members Kwok, Peng and Leung. The showdown between the three veteran actors Chow, Kwok and Leung Ka Fai has been touted as the scene to look out for.
The promotional event comes hot on the heels of the star-studded Sony Summit, which saw the likes of Tom Hanks, Ron Howard and Melissa McCarthy visiting Singapore to publicize some of the latest Hollywood blockbusters such as the remake of Ghostbusters. Cold War 2 will open in Singapore, China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Hong Kong cinemas on Jul 8.
